Highlands Ordered into Liquidation

On October 29th, Highlands Insurance Company was ordered into liquidation in Texas. The order holds that Highlands is insolvent and appoints a liquidator. The liquidation ends the permanent rehabilitation under which Highlands has been operating since 2003 and triggers the obligations of state guaranty funds.

Highlands’ policyholders were required to file proofs of claim in 2007. Subsequently, policyholders with unliquidated claims were required to file updated proofs of claim with supporting documentation by October 31, 2019. Bedivere Proof of Claim Filing Deadline Reminder

A reminder that policyholders of Bedivere Insurance Company must file their completed proofs of claim by December 31, 2021 with the Pennsylvania Office of Liquidations and Rehabilitations, as per the March 11, 2021 liquidation order.

Bedivere, formerly OneBeacon Insurance Company, is the surviving entity of the four companies acquired in 2014 by Armour Holdings from White Mountains Insurance Group. The other three companies, Lamorak Insurance Company (formerly OneBeacon America Insurance Company), Employers Fire Insurance Company, and Potomac Insurance Company were merged into Bedivere in late 2020. Bedivere is also the successor to many legacy insurers from the US operations of Commercial Union and General Accident; policyholders reviewing their portfolios may need to check for over 150 names. Notably, the liquidation does not include policies issued by the American Employers’ Insurance Company.
